No matter what the reasons for a breakup or, both men and women tend to follow similar patterns after the end of a relationship. Everybody needs a little while to heal, but avoid these four things and you’ll soon forget all about your ex and know how to get over a breakup.
Four Things you should never do if you want to get over a break up:
Sit around the house and watch TV. Everyone needs some down time after a breakup, but you can fall into bad habits if you’re not careful. Staying in your house and sitting in front of the TV, computer or video games will not help you deal with your breakup!
Inactivity will only make you feel more depressed and the cycle will be harder to break once you establish a lazy routine. However, it’s all right if you spend one or two days feeling upset and blowing off some steam, but you need to realize that this behavior isn’t going to help you and you shouldn’t keep it up for longer than one weekend.
Avoid going out and meeting new people. One of the biggest keys to helping you feel better about your newly found single lifestyle is to enlarge your social circle. If you are in a long-term relationship, then it may take you a little while to adjust to your new situation, but meeting new people and catching up with old friends will do wonders to speed the process.
Jump into another relationship right away. We believe it’s perfectly acceptable to go on casual dates soon after a breakup, but we don’t think it’s a good idea to invest your emotions and someone new right away. Statistically, most rebound relationships don’t last and the last thing you need right now is another breakup. It may be hard to dealing with single life, which is why casual dating is good, but people have a tendency to try to move rebound relationships to quickly in order to compensate for their last relationship.
Stop exercising. Fitness and regular exercise do wonders for your mental well-being. Not to mention the fact that you may need to burn off some calories after eating all those comfort foods. If you didn’t have time to exercise the while you were with your significant other, then grab a cheap membership to your local gym and get started. Working out will keep you busy, help you meet new people and boost your self-esteem once you start losing those extra pounds and toning up.Pin It
